Background of the Study

Green auditing is a subset of sustainability auditing that focuses on assessing environmental performance, identifying areas of improvement, and promoting eco-friendly practices. In Nigeria, industries like food and beverage manufacturing are increasingly adopting green audits to align their operations with global environmental standards (UNEP, 2023).

Nestlé Nigeria Plc, a leader in the food and beverage sector, has implemented green auditing to minimize its environmental footprint, particularly in areas such as energy consumption, waste management, and carbon emissions. These audits play a crucial role in fostering eco-friendly practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing the company’s corporate image.

This study evaluates the effectiveness of green auditing in promoting eco-friendly practices at Nestlé Nigeria Plc, highlighting its challenges and benefits.

Statement of the Problem
